On its return to earth, a spaceship to Venus crashes into the sea
somewhere, and the radioactive material it was supposed to return gets
scattered in quite a wide radius. A couple of kids (Edward Schiff, Jon
Grossman) find one container finding Venusian material, have the great
idea to open it, pour it into a weasel hole ... and in no time at all they
are horribly murdered and mutilated by a radioactive weasel, as are quite
a few people after them. Two cops (John Smihula, Steven Kriete)
investigate the murders ... and run into a mad scientist, who makes them
his captives, using one for his radioactive human/weasel experiments -
while the other can free himself. Ultimately though, the one cop
experimented on turns into a giant mutant who engages the scientist's
giant weasel he keeps as a pet in mortal combat, in which both of them
perish, while the other (unmutated) cop fights it out with the scientist
... who eventually is killed by a shark (!). A monster movie
that was made on a budget quite a few dollars short of at least the
scripts minimal demands - which is why the monsters look uniformly
ridiculous and at times even bizarre in a Muppets sort of
way, while the clumsy effects depicting the Venus-spaceship are nothing
short of laugh-inducing. Add to this a very indifferent and at best basic
directorial effort, sub-par writing and even worse acting, and you've got
... well, something that makes you chuckle a few times at least, if all
for the wrong reasons, but definitely not a good film.
