The lives of best friends Mateo (Josh Mitchell), Franco (Vanja
Kapetanovic), John (Jesse O'Neill) and Ed (Josh Thrower) all revolve
around one thing: Wine - and no, not because they're alcoholics but
because they want to become top of the crop sommeliers, but that means
essentially loads of stress, as they have to go through a lengthy
educational process that's topped by an extremely difficult exam that
includes blind wine tasting. So the four of them all try to cope with the
pressure, in quite different ways: Mateo's the lucky one as he finds a
girl (Alysa Scanzano) who's in the same business and supports him while
Ed's girlfriend (Yvette Gregory) drops him and he becomes an alcoholic,
and John becomes addicted to cocaine while preparing, a habit that's hard
to shake when you train yourself drinking and haven't got enough time in
the day to do so. But it's Franco who's hit the worst: Accidently, he gets
caught on a hot wannabe celebrity's (Janae Alt) sextape, and quickly
realizing the worth of this, he gets into a reality show with her which
ultimately gets him the coveted sommelier job, even if that means
betraying his closest friends. But while he gets where he wants the
quickest way, the others, however distraught, might have something up
their sleeves as well ... Wine Tasting is basically a
nice movie with an incredibly positive message, along the lines of
whatever hurdles life may have in store for you, you can master them, and
in a positive way, too - and it's thanks to a nice script that knows how
to balance comedy and drama to keep the audience interested, a subtle
directorial effort and of course a likeable cast to keep things flowing
just right ...
