New Philadelphia, Ohio, is one of these American cities small enough
for the opening of an adult bookstore still to cause unease in some
circles who have appointed themselves moral authority of the community,
totally ignoring the fact that nobody has asked them to and nobody needs
The contorversy ultimately comes to a point where Troy Vanderford,
chief crusader of the good folks of the city, and Carla Craig, adult
bookstore owner, porn novelist and enthusiastic meet in a diner. Now the
bookstore's legit, Carla pays her taxes and has all the necessary permits,
so instead of giving Vanderford the satisfaction of a negotiation, she
dares him to take a (purely mental) trip into her world and examine her
inspirations - which are nothing else but match covers. Carla persuades
Vanderford to touch one after the other, and each - in some magical way -
sucks him into a story upon touching:
- Fresh student Blair has just moved out of her parents' house and
these days spends most of her time masturbating and making up sexual
fantasies ... until one weird fantasy about a sexual spanking comes
out of nowhere. After daydreaming about this for a few days, she finds
out her neighbour is a passionate spanker - and soon enough, she sets
things in motion that are bound to land her over his knee panties
down. She enjoys it thoroughly, but her neighbour has a dark secret
- Angela, one of the extremely rare female torreros, returns to the
bullring where everything began but that's about to be torn now. And
above all else, she remembers the spanking she was handed on her first
day of training ...
- When she was little, her dad spanked her imaginary friend virtually
out of her mind - but now the imaginary friend returns to spank the
memory of his back into her ...
- Kyla has problems in her relationship and visits an
"expert", Dr. N. Cubis, for advice. He first introduces her
to the joys of spanking, then makes her his sex slave (pretty much
ending Kyla's other, troubled relationship). But Dr. N. Cubis is much
more than he seems ...
- A man brings home an at first place totally innocent looking
painting from centuries ago ... and somehow it leads them down a path
of sexual perversion - including a severe spanking ...
- A girl thinks her ex has popped up for Christmas dressed up as
Krampus (Austrian Christmas demon from pre-Christian lore) to give her
a good spanking and a good fucking. Just - sometimes things are what
they seem ...
- What Hailey loves most about Rainier is his exquisite torture
chamber, and also his expertise in all things spanking ... but what
does she think about him being a vamprie?
- This is the story of Carla, the woman of the framing story, who as a
student somehow got her hands on the box of magical match covers -
which not only told her all sorts of perverted spanking stories but
also whetted her appetite for spanking.
- On the run from demon Olivier, Carrie stumbles into a small town
church for a confession - but maybe the priest's working for the other
- A young man, barely 19, starts a sexual relationship with his
sister. And while she falls in love with him, he's merely in it for
the spanking (with her on the receiving end), getting more and more
violent with each session. She suggests to marry and run away, but
he's so dead against it that she kills herself - which makes him mend
his ways ...

The last story is directly connected to moral crusader Vanderford, who
now has to notice that the world of the match covers is more real than he
might have imagined.
Since this is a mix of horror and erotica with a spotlight on spanking,
this is most certainly not a book for everyone ... but if you can look
past the spankings (that occasionally seem a little tacked onto the
stories really, but then again they're the raison d'être of the book),
there are some well-told tales in here, with good story arcs, and many of
them with a Twilight
Zone-feel to them, so despite all the sexy and fetish stuff,
one does get some decent genre entertainment as well.
Well, I definitely cannot recommend this to everybody, but if you want
to explore your own kinky side, this might be a rather entertaining push
to do just that ...
