Robin Hood's (Richard Greene) merry men accidently rob a moneyshipment
belonging to impoverished aristocrat Maid Marian (Bernadette O'Farrell),
struggling to pay her taxes. Especially since Marian was one of his
childhood friends, Robin immediately returns the money - but not quick
enough, since Marian has taken matters into her own hands and has gone to
the Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Wheatley), and after he couldn't help her,
she has decided to lure Robin into a trap herself. So she dresses as a boy
and soon enough crosses paths with Robin himself - who of course has
recognized his childhood friend immediately but has decided to, for the
time being, let her play her little charade, thus he welcomes her into his
gang and lets her (as a boy) live with them for a day and do the dishes
(really).
Early the next morning though, Marian has run off, and when Robin goes
after her to persuade her not to betray him, he's not quick enough and
walks right into her trap ... and soon enough, Robin finds himself
prisoner of the Sheriff, to be executed the very next day.
It's only when Marian returns home that she finds out Robin really has
returned the money (actually more than was stolen from her), and she gets
second thoughts about what she has done ... and thus sbhe uses her
contacts to get into the dungeon where Robin is held and evenb has the
guards giving her a few moments with Robin alone - which she uses to untie
him and letting him tie her up so he can not only flee, but also no
suspicion is cast upon her ...
Nothing special of course, but well-staged early television.
