One night, somewhere on a streetcorner, Brandon (Shane Ryan) meets a
cute girl (Kai Lanette), and though she finds it a little bit odd that he
is constantly filming her with a videocam, they soon start to talk, start
to like each other, and before you know it, he has persuaded her to come
home with him, and before you know it, they have sex too ...
sounds like such a sweet story, but the thing is that Brandon really is a
serial killer who films all of his murders just for fun, and while the
audience is left in no uncertain terms about that, the girl Brandon has
sex with of course doesn't know that.
So ok, the girl has sex with
Brandon the killer, but sex gets a little rough after a while, and
somehow, Brandon succeeds in pissing the girl off, she pushes him away,
dresses and leaves - and essentially she has just escaped certain death
... but wait a minute, Brandon goes after her, now all charming again, he
apologizes to her, claims he has just overdone it a little, promises to
hold back from now on - and she comes back to his appartment with him,
they have sex once more ... and he strangles her until she is dead while
he is still shagging her ...
Now one thing's for certain, Amateur
Porn Star Killer 2 is one disturbing movie, and sure enough it's not
what you would call an act of political correctness. But it's also not a
worthless piece of misogynist sleaze (even despite some hardcore sex
scenes) or torture porn, but what I would call an exercise in suspense
filmmaking, actually it's one extended suspense scene. You pretty much
know what is going to happen (and the title is a dead giveaway), and just
because of that you see everything going on onscreen - which could be
described as a slightly sleazy romance movie - in another light. And
competent direction and editing help keeping suspense up when the story as
such, as feeble as it is, is getting a bit repetitive.
Star Killer 2 is definitely worth a look, but it's also definitely not
for the faint-hearted (even though the violence as such isn't all that
explicit). So watch it at your own risk.
