Bridd (Austin Hébert) is just the insignificant guy who perfectly
blends in as the mailroom boy in a brokerage firm, and since he seems to
lack all ambition and never even tries for a promotion, he's well-liked by
all - and that said, he has some exceptional talent that helps him to
convey every situation in the fraction of a second and react super-quick
... something that's indispensable for the stock market, but he only ever
uses it to help his friend (Adam Shapiro) get a promotion. Still, he
somehow attracts the attention of attractive Charlotte (Alexis Carra),
who's an adventurer at heart and thus the polar opposite of quiet Bridd
... and then Bridd's life turns to shit, somehow he realizes there are a
bunch of men after him who are not quite human and who are killing his
friends to get to him while at the same time blaming all the killings on
him so he can't go to the police. And while on the run, with only
Charlotte by his side, and at the same time figuring out what's going on,
Bridd has to learn he's actually an alien-human hybrid - which would at
least explain his special powers and his feeling of alienation and desire
to blend in. Somehow, Bridd and Charlotte manage to shake all pursuers and
lie low in the country for a while, but they know they have to eventually
solve the whole mess or live on the run forever - and then who turn out to
be aliens abduct Charlotte, and now it's up to Bridd to set things right
... The Answer is in fact a pretty fascinating lo-fi
blend of science fiction, thriller, action pic, and even comedy and even
romance that manages to navigate through all these genres quite admirably
and bundle them to a coherent whole thanks to a well-structured script
that manages to surprise and keep the audience at the edge of their seats,
and a direction that makes the most out of the film's (probably rather
low) budget without overdoing it, instead keeping an eye on driving the
story. And a likeable key cast of course doesn't hurt one bit, either!
