Palmer (Steven Marlow) leads his team of highly-trained Marines into a
featureless building to fight and defeat whatever's in there. The squad is
armed to the teeth, and wearing gas masks and hazmat suits they are
prepared for pretty much everything - or so they think, as they have no
idea of the nature of whatever they are hunting, and soon become mice in
their own trap ... Now this is a piece of horror as skeletal as
they come: Basically it takes a standard situation of many a horror flick,
derives it of all of its backstory and really concentrates just on the
on-screen goings-on. And this strategy works quite well for Backrooms:
Realm of the Forgotten,as the film's very tightly paced and manages to
concentrate on the visceral from beginning to end, this way managing to
keep tension levels high throughout, and with the right mix of suspense
and jump scares, the audience is sure to be kept at the edges of their
seats from beginning to end. And the result is pretty cool genre
entertainment.
