Luna (Victoria Reed), a woman consumed by comicbooks and graphic
novels, desparately wants to become a superhero - but try as she might,
there's really nothing super about her, despite her knowing all the right
moves, she can't shoot energy beams from the palms of her hands, she won't
take off in flight whenever she wills herself to, and when she leaps off a
building in an effort to just take off into the skies, it only leads to a
broken arm instead. Then though she learns that many superheroes are
orphans ... A fun little movie that plays an original riff on
the superhero genre by really just asking "what if you're not
super", with the story being to what length one goes to not accept
that. But it goes to this short's credit that this is not told in an
over-the-top no-holds-barred comedy way but actually shows heart and
sympathy for its lead, whose admittedly humourous attempts at superheroing
also show some sincerity - up to the finale of course, which comes across
as a really deserving punchline. And thanks to just the right subtlety in
both the direction and the performances, this turns out to be a pretty
amusing film. And if this has at all gotten you interested, you
might want to watch the movie in full here: https://youtu.be/LmmkFXIoA4k
