It starts with young nerds Janek (Corey Lof) and Kyle (A.J. Morabito)
wanting to do something cool one night, so they try to steal a car ... and
somehow, jock Dane (Joel Ballanger) and partygirl Zoey (Caitlynne Medrek)
get involved, first to only mock the two nerds, but when Janek actually
manages to short-circuit the car, he earns a bit of respect. Problem is,
there's a dead girl in the trunk of the car ... and in their panic (after
all, the car is stolen), our heroes decide to not call the police but a
friend (Shaun Ferguson), who's supposed to get rid of the body for them,
as he always boasts about what a tough guy he is and about his hood
experiences - but once he sees the body, he freaks out, and when he wants
to call the cops ... Zoey accidently kills him. So now our heroes have two
dead bodies in their trunk - oh, plus a cop (Jonathan Lewis) who's a bit
too nosey and whom Zoey kills by accident. So who in town would be
interested in three dead bodies? Nobody but Satanist Mica (Samara Stern)
of course, but she asks for our heroic quartet to steal Hitler's mustache
from a local Neo Nazi (Will Conlon) - whom Zoey accidently kills in the
process (is there a pattern?). Thing is, it soon turns out Mica and her
Satanists mean serious business as they want to bring Hitler back to life.
Now if they can do it is actually completely besides the point but they
sure as hell will sacrifice quite a few humans to try and get there ... Blood
Riders: The Devil Rides with Us is above all else great fun! Sure, the
humour is above all else unapologetically dark and macabre, but it's never
gross for grossness' sake, but the comedy and plot go hand in hand. Plus,
for all its outrageousness, the movie dares to afford itself a few more
silent moments allowing its characters to develop as well without ever
losing steam - so it's solidly structured and well paced ... and a very
able ensemble cast make this a pretty good genre comedy.
