All George Burns wants to do is to write a speech he plans to hold this
night, but he is disturbed by the three kids (Melinda Plowman, Jill
St.John, Jerry James) of his wife Gracie Allen's friend (Sarah Selby) who
have come for a visit (and who eventually make him jump into the pool
fully dressed), the principal (Pierre Watkin) of the school they are
supposed to go to, the constantly quarelling neighbours (Bea Benaderet,
Fred Clark), and finally Gracie herself, who does her best to not disturb
him, but her ditzy attitude makes her mess things up royally. The
concept of this episode is great in its simplicity, but unfortunately it's
not executed all that well, and several subplots - most of them funny by
themselves - detract from the main story. Above all that, the supporting
cast is not exactly great and the cuteness factor of the kids is somewhat
exaggerated (especially since they are not especially cute) ... but once
George Burns and/or Gracie Allen take the stage, none of this matters all
that much and the whole thing is still good entertainment.
