When he has an accident driving a truck for his own transport company, Shah Rukh Khan meets Rani
Mukherjee for the first time, & it is love at first sight. Still, he
loses her again, only to find her some 20 days later, the day she's
actually going to Athens to be engaged to Sameer (Jas Arora). He follows
her, though, & when the plane is redirected due to bad weather ,
they spend some time together & she actually falls for him, too ...
the engagement is, of course cancelled at the last minute, she marries
Shah Rukh Khan instead ... This part of the story is told as a romantic
comedy as flashback, now, one year later, not all is well. Shah Rukh
& Rani start to fight over every little thing & the situation is
not at all helped by her rich relatives, always giving him the feeling
that he's too cheap for her. Furthermore, his company is running into
financial difficulties, & she is helping him out with money in
literally the last minute. All seems well until he finds out she has
borrowed the money from Sameer. Shah Rukh & Rani have a fight which
eventually leads her to leave. Every single attempt of him winning her
back backfires until she is already on the plane back to Athens. Only
when he sends her his most beloved thing, his talisman, directly onto
the airplane is she convinced of his love. Happy ending ofcourse.
It might not be the greatest fo stories of course, but it's nicely
told, with all the cheesy stuff played out in song-&-dance routines
(as is usual in Indian movies - these routines, of course, might still
be cheesy, but at least they're fun to watch), & both Shah Rukh Khan
& Rani Mukherjee give great performances. |
