5 years ago, when on the trail of notorious Cleaver (Paul Rogers),
Jody-Ann (Georgie Smibert) lost her partner, Sheriff Hatcher (Jimi James)
- and ever since then, she has been trying to track him down, drifting
from one Mid-Western small town to the next, but never quite catching up
with him - until she meets Misty (Gemma Louise Troughton), a girl who's
trailing Cleaver for personal revenge. Misty tells her she can find
Cleaver - there's just one problem though, Jody-Ann has to break Misty
from jail ... Tanya (Jessica Michelle Smith) is on a trip through the
Mid West with her family (Matthew Baunsgard, Kimberly Lasi, Derek Nelson,
Olivia Krys), when, in the middle of nowhere, they pick up an
innocent-looking girl, Mary-Beth, who asks them to drive her home ...
which they gladly do, and then they accept an invitation into the house
where she lives with her dad. There's just one problem: Her dad is
Cleaver, and he's in a killing mood. Plus, Mary-Beth does definitely come
after her father ... Cleavers is one cool movie for
sure, by and large ditching the slasher formula the first Cleaver:
Rise of the Killer Clown was based on for something more elaborate
more character-driven. And as most films by Mj Dixon, this one relies
heavily on atmosphere, achieved by effective music and Dixon's trademark
play with the colour scale, but it's also got suspense and jump scares in
all the right spots, and doesn't hold back when it comes to violence,
presenting the audience with some rather inventive killings. So genre fans
will almost certainly be pleased.
