To get rid of a girl (Jules Leyser) he has accidently chatted up in a
bar & given her his phonenumber, Steve (Jack Davenport) on the phone
to be Dick Darlington from Bruce's Bar & Grill, not knowing
it's his girlfriend Susan (Sarah Alexander) who calls, sporting a French
accent because of a guy (Mark Frost) she has just met at a bar who thinks
she's French. Soon, Steve, through no fault of his own, finds out that
Susan, when in Australia 10 years ago, has slept with pretty much half the
continent ... which Susan only tells because she thinks she misdialled as
she can't exactly remember his number & has accidently mixed up her
mobile with Jeff's (Richard Coyle).
It's later when the confusion is almost resolved (though neither Steve
nor Susan know why the other did what he did) that Yvonne calls for real,
& Susan puts the call on speaker ...
Break-up is imminent !
Another one of the funniest episodes of the series, like in episodes
before giving up linear narration for retelling the same scene from
different points of view, while putting the starting point of the
situation near the end - to very funny effect.
