A Screambox original.
Dealer Denny (Chris O'Brocki) has supplied the local market with some
new, super-powered crack only recently, blissfully unaware of the side
effects - them being that users turn into hyper-violent maniacs, killing
everybody in sight. However, he knows about a quintet of teens (Rosaria
Eraso, Angel Nichole Bradford, Hunter Redfern, Tim Hale, Morrigan
Thompson) who've rented a house in the country for spring break for some
partying and getting high, and they're ready to pay top Dollar for
whatever he can deliver, so he and his husband Frankie (Justin P. Martin)
decide to take a trip to the country for some romantic days while actually
making some money. But on the way to the teens' house, they notice a
police car tailing them and throw out the drugs in an unobserved moment -
and the police officers (John W. Iwanonkiw, Lou Consolo) are none the
wiser about their true motives to come to the country in the process.
Unfortunately, a raccoon has discovered their stash of crack, partakes
some ... and turns into an absolute killer - and its first victim is
Denny, who has come to retrieve his stash. Frankie is sent running through
the woods and tries to warn everyone in his path of the doped up killer
raccoon, but honestly, who's going to believe him. Eventually the raccoon
makes it to the teens' cabin and kills all of them but Finn (Rosaria
Eraso), the t-totaler of the group who has just happened to take a walk
during the massacre, and eventually she runs into Frankie, and then the
local deputy (Gary Lee Vincent), who has just stumbled over more dead
bodies in one afternoon than in his lifetime so far, and the three have to
realize they're in grave danger ... Legendary horror screenwriter and
filmmaker John A. Russo has a pretty fun scene as a reluctant coroner. Now
the title pretty much suggests as much, Crackcoon is taking quite a
few cues from Coraine Bear, so you better not expect Citizen
Kane here - but then again, Cocaine Bear isn't Citizen Kane
either, but still darn entertaining. So what Crackcoon is is
certainly no intellectual masterpiece ... but a near-perfect party movie:
It's story is simple enough to follow even without paying too close
attention, it's premise is just wonderfully silly, there are many jokes
and much silliness throughout, but there's also plenty of blood, bits of
nudity, and the whole thing is somewhat loud in any way possible. It's a
film that might not resonate with someone sober - but it's a really fun
ride accompanied by a couple or more beers.
