In 2245, the earth's sun is no longer functioning the way it should, so
some big-ass company hires a group of badass mercenaries (Franziska
Schissler, Alexander Kane, Jason Skeen, Alex Giuffreda, Leonard Jackson)
to travel to another galaxy to get a rare mineral called stardust to fuel
the sun again - but the trip doesn't go as planned, their starship crashes
on an alien planet, a couple of them are killed, a rival group also
exploiting the planet led by Thane (Carl Bailey) is after the same thing
as they are and the two factions are not on good terms, a mysterious woman
(Khu) appears who knows a bit more than is comfortable for either group -
and then there's an alien hunter actually set free by our heroes that
kills each and everybody in its path. And on top of that, the chances of
ever leaving the planet again are pretty slim ...
So ok, this movie's alien hunter looks and acts a bit too much like a Predator
to come off as wholly original, and some of the plot of the film is a bit
too convoluted to really make perfect sense or at least be fully
comprehended during watching the thing - but at the same time, this is
also a very tense sci-fi thriller that keeps pushing from beginning to
end, and really doesn't leave too much time to think about plotholes and
leaps of reason. And cool action sequences, tight pacing, a solid
directorial effort and a very competent cast help to make this very cool
low budget genre entertainment!
