Two guys find themselves captured in a cellar, chained to opposite
walls by one of their ankles. It soon becomes appartent that someone is
playing mindgames with them, using an audio tape and a cellphone to mess
with their brains, but instead of trying to join up against their tormentor,
the two captives are at each other's throats soon enough
(figuratively speaking, their chains don't allow them to get into physical
contact), and in the end throw all sorts of stuff at each other just to
hurt the respective other one. In the meantime, an army sergeant tries
to solve a series of murders, which, it soon becomes apparent, were
committed by the same guy who captured the two men in his basement. When
the sergeant finally catches up with the culprit, a local hunter, though,
he has to find out the guy is holding his sweetheart captive, which is
when ... the film is over, rather inexplicably. What sounds
like a blatant rip-off of the original Saw
is actually a parody of the movie ... or at least it tries to be, but
fails. The reason is quite simple, if you want to effectively spoof a
rather gruesome movie like Saw, you
might consider taking the road of subtlety - not so Destere, a film
that seems to make a point out of being blunt as can be, and thus rarely a
joke in the whole film is funny, every character and every scene tries so
hard to be hilarious it is almost pathetic, and the lack of topical humour
(the backbone of any parody) is almost inexplicable given the film is
supposed to be a parody. Really not worth your
time.
