Archeologist John (Jason Brooks) has gone deep into the bowels of earth with his team of scientists to find an ancient relic that has become something like his obsession, but when one of his team (Brendan Wayne) dies in the process, his team flat out abandons the expedition, as John seems to be dangerously obsessed with the relic. Dangerously obsessed might be right, as back above ground he starts to have visions of the relic and a gang of demonic underground warriors who guard it, so much so that his attitude starts to seriously worry his wife Susan (Jeri Ryan). His father Hayes (William Shatner) though insists that he has to go back into the cave to find the relic for his own peace of mind - and it should be noted here that John's family has looked for the relic for generations - and he even persuades Susan to not only accompany John but also bring their children Eric (Robert Scott Wilson) and Dana (Ciara Hanna) along for the ride. Not even John is sure about that, but he does it anyhow. Now at first, it seems the expedition is a rousing success, as John and family actually find the relic - but then the demonic warriors turn up, and they don't take kindly to those who steal from them ...

So ok, not all of this movie makes perfect sense, and some scenes (like the local college being overrun by demons) is even inconsequential for the plot - but the film is nothing if not a fun ride, with plenty of action, fierce-looking demons, great underground locations, William Shatner being William Shatner as only he can, all carried by a direction that's light-footed and atmospheric at the same time. And of course a solid ensemble cast also helps.

Basically, if you're into genre entertainment, you're more than likely to enjoy this.
