Doctor Gangrene (Larry Underwood) and Penny Dreadful (Danielle
Gelehrter), two perennial Halloween protagonists, are in for a shock:
Halloween as they knew it is no more, it has turned into just another
sugary-sweet holiday supposed to frithen noone. After panicking for a bit,
Gangrene and Penny do what everyone would do in this situation - blaming
each other. After a bit of fingerpointing, they come to the conclusion
that they are actually both to blame, Gangrene because he travelled back
in time to find the spirit of Halloween, but instead accidently sabotaged
the very creation of Halloween itself, Penny because a magic spell of hers
was to make every Halloween like the first one, the Halloween that no
longer was. After more arguing, Penny and Gangrene decide that she will
countercast her spell while he will go back in time once more to frighten
some medieval folks into creating Halloween once again - by wearing a
cheap rubber mask. Now this is a plan so ill-conceived it simply has to
succeed. Having reinstated Halloween in its former glory, Penny and
Gangrene agree to never again touch the core of Halloween - but what they
might do to some of the other holidays is at anybody's guess ... Horror
host Count Gore DeVol (Richard Dyszel) does the introduction to this by
the way. A fun little film that might not be exactly original
concerning its stories, but it gets some fine laughs out of the
interaction between real life horror hosts Larry Underwood and Danielle
Gelehrter, who try to outshine each other in what I would term a friendly
competition, and this way they develop a chemistry all of their own - even
though they do not actually share one scene in the movie and their scenes
were even shot in different studios by different crews. Good fun,
anyways!
