Barbara (Laura Gemser) is the new doctor in town, and because of her
looks, she is turning all the locals' heads, which leads to endless
wannabe-funny scenes - and to her across the street neighbour renting out
seats at his window for others to peep in on her. Somehow, a Romeo
and Juliet-style lovestory is thrown into the mix, too, as Bella
(Candidá López), daughter of mayor Bianchi (Aldo Ralli), and Marco
(Roberto Gallozzi), son of his socialist opponent Romolo (Aldo Sambrell),
are madly in love with each other, but their parents just can't stand each
other. But there's a rumour in town that Doc Barbara has sex with Marco,
and the mayor thinks that when catching the boy making love to her, he has
something to blackmail Romolo with. Thing is, the man who was seen making
love to Barbara was actually her fiancé (Gabriele Tinti), and Marco
learns about the mayor's plot to catch him and Barbara - so he lets the
mayor catch him with his own daughter herself, and in the view of this,
the mayor has to agree to let the two of them marry. In the end though,
Marco does have sex with Barbara - for no particular reason.
Italian
erotic comedies from the 1970's are bad almost by definition, and this is
not one of the better ones of them. Rather it is a collection of cheap
jokes and a bit of poorly executed slapstick, interrupted by some nudity
and barely held together by a story that doesn't necessarily make too much
sense. Even the lovely Laura Gemser, who gets naked quite frequently in
this one, can't save much here, but then again comedy never really was her
strength. Waste of time.
