Clive (Nick Pages-Oliver) and Desmond (Daniel Buckle), two basically
very average guys, have only recently taken to putting on masks and
killing their friends off one by one. They're not particularly good at it,
but good enough to get away with it for a while, and ultimately they want
to blame the murders on one of their friends, Tom (Jayden Arts). Why?
Because Clive's secretly in love with Lauren (Alice Wrobel), who just
happens to be Tom's girlfriend. But with Tom accused of murder Clive
figures Lauren might fall in love tih him instead. And Desmond is actually
a closet gay secretly in love with Clive, and he figures helping him with
his plan will bring the two of them closer to one another. Of course,
neither idea makes much sense, nor their desparate attempts to blame the
murders on Tom, but rather by mistake than design, Clive and Desmond
manage to stay ahead of the game - that is until one of their friends,
Brenda (Elise Wilson), tells them she's wise to them - and she wants in
... So ok, on a purely technical level, Everybody Gets
Stabbed leaves something to be desired, especially when it comes to
on-screen sound and sound effects - but if you can ignore that for the
duration of the film, you'll be richly rewarded as the movie's just really
good in milking its whacky idea for what it's worth and then some, while
packing it all in a well constructed yet hilarious story that seems to
find special joy in turning slasher mainstays onto their heads, and
getting laughs out of suspense scenes. And a cast playing it straight
despite being in on the joke really helps bringing this to life and making
it into a pretty cool dark genre comedy.
