Roger (Velton Lishke) and Jane (Nikki Hellens) are pretty close to
being the perfect couple - in fact they're so good with one another it's
almost boring. Roger also tries and mostly succeeds to be a good stepdad
to Jane's daughter from a previous relationship Claire (Danni Shepherd),
and he tries to make her boyfriend Joe (Connor Wyse) feel welcome when he
pops over for dinner. There's really only one topic that sets Roger off,
and that's anyone mentioning the young girls who have gone missing in the
area of late. And eventually, when accidently hitting a key on Roger's
laptop, Joe finds out why, and he doesn't like much what he sees ...
A nice piece of slowburn thriller entertainment, and one that
works thanks to its nicely structured plot and its gradual build up of
suspense rather than spectacle - so much so that it perfectly suffices to
only hint at key plotpoints for full effect. And a suitably subtle
directorial effort and a solid cast of course also help to make this very
cool genre entertainment.
