Every object has a story to it, and one contributes to the story of
whatever one touches, and becomes part of its story - inclunding all the
things in a box by the wayside saying "free to a good home" ...
- Amy's (Miranda Nieman) grieving after the loss of her husband, and
she's drowning her sorrow in alcohol - before long together with her
best friend Jill. But is that enough reason to jump off a water tower
to her death?
- Ryan (Jake C. Young) is a thief as common as they come, breaking and
entering being his speciality. And on one such excursions, his spree
is cut short by a locked safe - and across the room from it, there's a
chained up woman, who asks him to free her in exchange for opening the
safe for him. But she also tells him if he frees her she will
slaughter the entire family living next door ...
- Julia (Olivia Dennis) takes her best friends (Katelyn Nevin, Roni
Locke, Olivia Rose Barrell) to a Halloween party thrown by an
acquaintance - and while the girls all expect a night of drugs and
booze, they ultimately get into something much more sinister ...
A pretty cool anthology of a trio of loosely connected stories that's
really deceiving in its slowburn approach to horror, as it very gradually
moves from down-to-earth schocker (especially the first story) into more
and more disturbing material, with an utterly creepy finale. All of this
is achieved to a story and atmosphere-centered directorial effort as well
as a very cleverly structured screenplay that only by the by gives away
the film's overarching theme and the stories' interconnections, while a
very solid, down-to-earth cast helps making this into a really nice and
pleasantly unusual genre entry.
