Of all days on Independence Day 1989, a rocket launched by the US
military carrying bacteriological weaponry exploded shortly after
take-off and a virus has turned the population of a small town mostly
affected by the virus, into raging lunatics. It seems though one boy (Mars
Mohamed) is immune to the virus. That said though, being immune alone
helps very little when everyone around you is a dangerous crazy person.
But the boy is quick to arm himself, train himself, and then scour the
town looking for survivors like him ... Quite an interesting
movie: On one hand, Guerrilla is of course a post-apocalyptic movie
with all the genre mainstays firmly in place, but on the other it's also a
very lyrical movie, that brings across its story without any on-screen
sounds let alone dialogue, it's carried merely through impressive music
and rather beautiful camerawork - helped of course by some wonderful
locations. And the wonderful 1980s props and costumes are really a bonus
to everything else. Quite worth a watch, really!
