What is history? Well, broadly speaking, history is everything
that has happened in the past, both the deeply personal as well as the
global - or even universal for that matter. Everything, the good, the bad,
the indifferent, progress as well as tragedy. And only the knowledge of
history enables one to not repeat mistakes from the past, even if even
that doesn't always take effect due to poor leadership, politics or maybe
even ideology ... ... and the film is bringing all of this
across very nicely and comes across more as a meditation about the concept
of history rather than an actual documentary in the narrowest sense of the
word. And in its less than 8 minutes that evolve around a group of
students trying to grasp the conept of history themselves, this short
manages to bring across its ideas rather beautifully, in a very unexcited
way and without any sledgehammer to drive its message home, it's really
just a thoughtful piece that will keep you thinking long after it has
ended - and that is an excellent thing.
