Andrea (Abby Livingston) and Greg (Jonathan Robert Anderson) have met
on Tinder, and they're out on their first date tonight - and things go
really well: They're both almost as attractive as their Tinder pictures,
they're as laid back as they're charming, and a certain chemistry soon
develops - and then, despite their server's (Shahjehan Khan) warnings they
order the "honest cocktail", a cocktail that makes them 100%
honest in everything - and before you know it, she has screamed out loud
how horny she is and he's off to the toilet crying after he has admitted
to his rather modest penis side (among other things). So there's really
nothing that could save this date anymore - or is there? Now
above all else, this short is just fun, it's cleverly structured, wittily
written, and the two leads are in on the joke but play it straight and
develop just the right chemistry to make this work in the process. But
beneath all the comedy there's also some depth to this, tackling questions
like what is truth and how much of it can we handle. Plus despite the
film's rather exaggerated premise, everybody who's ever been on a
less-than-perfect date will probably be able to relate to this movie to at
least some extent - all of which is making Honest Cocktail just
really good entertainment.
