It should have been a simple bank heist, but it has gone horribly
wrong, wrong enough for the nine gangsters to end up in some purgatory
where their boss, Zero (Ciaron Davies) tries to find out what has happened
- and gifted with the talent to tap into his men's minds, he uncovers not
only what has led to the blunder but also some bigger and darker secrets
about those he entrusted with the job ... Intersection
Number Nine sure is an unusual movie: Sure, it plays with mainstays of
the gangster genre, sometimes even clichés, but its other-worldly looks
and non-linear structure make everything feel entirely fresh, a non-linear
structure that also seems to blow the movie wide open for interpretation,
because much what happens is not presented as the absolute truth (within
the film's reality) but just a possibility, while much as the story flows
more in an associative than logical way. And the result is a big puzzle
that might be hard to impossible to put together, but as with any good
puzzle, it's not really the end-result but the getting there that counts.
