Riley's
(Madison Shmalo) suffering from some chronic illness - and sure, she's
trying hide it from everyone else the best she can and is doing a decent
job, mostly, but then again this isn't making her suffering any better,
and especially setbacks, even small ones, are really hard to take when
under that kind of strain already, and certain suicidal tendencies are a
sad consequence of that. Sure, being part of a self help group
where she can finally be herself brings her some relief, but then again
there's her job as parcel deivery person thatespecially gets to her in all
its monotony. But sometimes the greatest solace comes from corners least
expected ...
A very powerful film, especially since despite its pressing
subject matter it keeps the ball low, doesn't try to overwhelm the
audience with urgency but instead sucks the viewer in with some
slice-of-life scenes told in an unexcited and thus all the more compelling
way, only augmented by a very realistic, heartfelt performance by Madison
Shmalo, all of which is making this just a really good and quite engaging
watch.
