Since he has foiled each and every of their evil plans in the past,
this time around, the Phantom Militia decides to go after Gentaro (Shoji
Ishibashi), agent for Professor Tsushima and all-around hero, himself, so
they send out Caprigon - a giant robot monster who does a lot of running
and shoots spears from its nostrils - to do the job. Caprigon is really
able to injure Gentaro's leg, but is ultimately chased away by Iron King,
Gentaro's giant robot buddy who unbeknowest to Gentaro is really his klutzy
colleague Goro (Mitsuo Hamada).
Out in the battlefield, Gentaro meets Kazuko, a local doctor who takes
care of his leg pretty much immediately. But once she ahs done that, she
won't let Gentaro out of her sight, claiming his leg has to properly heal
first. Then of course, the Militia and Caprigon attack once more, and
against his doctor's advice, Gentaro, still suffering from his injury,
enters the battle, but it soon becomes clear he is in no condition yet to
fight, but when the Militia finally moves in for the kill, Kazuko catches
the bullet meant for him, giving her life to save his. It's only then that
Gentaro - who has suddenly and miraculously recovered - and Iron King take
care of the Militia and blow up Caprigon.
Caprigon is another delightfully wacky monster (though no match for
Tongasaurus and Jurass Don from the last episodes), and seeing it
constantly trying to outrun Iron King and shooting spears from its
nostrils is quite a hoot. Some of the melodrama of the episode is a bit a
bit too much though.
