He (Bruce Blain) didn't get the job of mall Santa - which has gotten
him upset quite a bit, so much so actually that he invited those over whom
he considers in league against him - the mall manager (Bonny Hay), her
secretary (Ashley Fetters), her husband (David Bloom) and her daughter
(Chloe Cruz). And with "invited" I mean, he has gagged them and
tied them to chairs in his garage, to mete out what he considers justice
... Basically, Mad Santa is a tour de force for Bruce
Blain in his acting capacity - not that I at all want to bring down the
rest of the cast, who do fine jobs, but Blain is the only one with any
discernable lines (apart from Carrie Anne Fleming in the surprise ending),
and the camera's on him most of the time. And fortunately he has the
talent to totally pull it off, and of course he's also helped by a
well-written and well-structured script and his own direction gives him
(the actor) the room to breathe, making this one a pretty cool ride that
combines madness and violence with a darkly comedic streak with the
Christmas theme providing just the right backdrop to make this even more
disturbing. Well worth a watch to be sure. If you want to
