Gábor's (Péter Inoka) dad
(Dániel Szabó) has left to parts unkknown when he was a baby. He's in
his mid-20s now, and his mother (Zsuzska Rujzam) is slowly dying from
cancer. Then he, his girlfriend Annamari (Csinszka Flóra Kiss) and his
best friend Daniel (Dávid Kiss) find a paper containing some coordinates
among his dad's papers, and they decide to find some answers ... and
instead they find a car, a car that belonged to Gábor's father and
against all odds is still working after all these years. So the three
friends decide to follow the other coordinates on the paper one after the
next - and get in parallel universe after parallel universe, some ravaged
by war and natural disasters, some too good to be true (to the point that
there's no place for them), a journey that makes them think about many
things - when they're not on the run from something or other ...
A very interesting low
budget science fiction movie that uses its parallel universe not so much
as a hanger for action (though there's some of that, too) or political
commentary but goes very deep into exploring the emotional side of things,
presenting its three leads as essentially broken characters for whom the
journey through all these parallel worlds might serve as a healing
process. And a deliberately slow pace and subtle directorial effort only
help the film to reach its full impact.
