James (Tim DeZarn) and Blake (Adam Burdon) have just robbed a bank and
the police is hot on their trail, but fortunately James has provided them
with a warehouse that for some reason not even the police dares to go
into. And while they're cooped up in their safe haven, the two bankrobbers
decide to investigate the place - and soon realize the place they're at
isn't just a warehouse like they originally assumed but served as a
research facility back in the day. But apparently something has happened
there, something that involved violence, and lots of it, too. And while
our heroes go on exploring they find out that the facility served to
create an artificial intelligence called Dorothy (Danielle Harris), an
artificial intelligence turned evil that the previous occupants ultimately
lost their lives turning off. But somehow, James and Blake have
re-awakened Dorothy, and Dorothy's not in a good mood ... A
pretty tense sci-fi thriller that probably works quite as well because
even if one already knows the premise the film manages to keep the viewer
as in the dark as its protagonists and only dishes out the backstory by
the by, this way managing to create suspense almost throughout. Plus the
film also makes perfect use of its rather mundane warehouse settings,
using its structures to full cinematic effect. And a fast-paced direction
and two solid leads only help to make this into pretty cool genre
entertainment.
