Doomsday has happened and annihilated most of humankind, while those
left alive are at war with vampire mutants and lorded over by Gargoya
(Jared Masters), an alien trying to control humanity through their
electronic enhancements. Eon (Jared Masters again) is an only mildly
successful prospector who tries to evade Gargoya's inflluence and just be
left in peace - until his car is stolen by crook Lippy (James F Gregory),
and tracking down Lippy Eon stumbles into Lord Gargoya's ceremonial blood
sacrifice of humankind's last princess (Elizabeth Rath), something that
would spell disaster for humans all over, and something Eon can't prevent
- but he can at least save her soul (literally) and try to bring it to
mythical Utocha to save our kind. Thing is, Lorg Gargoya and company
aren't very likely to let him do just that ... Dawna Lee Heising voices
the matriarch of Utocha. In many ways - from tthe tough guy
attitude of the lead to the scantily clad girls to grotesque baddies -
this is a throwback to macho post doomsday cinema of the 1980s, but not in
a post-modern way that seems to constantly wink at the audience, but
instead it captures the spirit of the genre to tell an original story to
tell an original (if sometimes slightly confusing) story. And decent
pacing and interesting (and often slightly outrageous) characters really
make this a fun genre watch.
