Professor Pommeroy plans to steal the idols of the Ngomas, against the advice
of Ramar of the Jungle (Jon Hall), a jungle doctor & researcher in rare
diseases. When the Ngomas find their idols stolen though, they make Ramar &
his associate professor Ogden (Ray Montgomery) plus their servant Willy (Nick
Stewart) their prisoners, since they know Pommeroy was staying at their place
for a while.
When Ramar proposes to bring back their idols, they agree to set them free
should he be successful, however, when the natives upon Ramar's return find one
of the idols broken (actually Pommeroy has broken it), they decide to keep the
trio prisoners after all, especially when a jungle fever breaks out in their
village, which they think is a curse of the idol.
It happens that Ramar has developed the medicine for this particular jungle
fever, but it is back at his camp, so he has top revert to a stupid trick to
get it: Willy has to pretend he died of the fever to get out of the village,
then return to the camp to get the mmedicine. As it happens though, time is
shorter than Ramar expected since the king of the Ngomas has fallen ill
himself, & since the Ngomas make Ramar & Ogden responsible for it, they
decide to let them die a particularly horrible dead, as they have already tied
Ogden to 2 bent & tied down trees, which, when released from their ropes,
will swing back up & tear Ogden in half. Thank god Willy arrives just in
time & the king is saved.
Despite an ingenious & gruesome method of torture in the end, this is a
rather dull episode of Ramar Of the Jungle as it features little actual
action & makes too much use of stock footage (whole passages of the native
village are very obviously just pasted in, plus even Ramar's fight against
Pommeroy is decided by some distraction from a lion on stock footage).
