A young man sets out to conquer the world by storm in 2002 - quite
literally, by auditioning for the HBO
show Candidate 2012, a reality show that follows its lead
for 10 (!) years while helping him campaigning for the 2012 presidential
election from the grassroots up ... but our hero is rejected for not being
political enough. Next he tries to write a storyline for the WWE,
but it's rejected by Vince McMahon, which leads our young man to emit a
rant worthy of many a wrestler who he hoped to write for. Finally, he
tries to get onto The Jerry Springer Show as his alter ego
Baby Smudge, cross-dressing wrestler, but only earns another rejection,
this time, of all things, for not being real enough. Now that
much rejection is enough to bring any man down, but our hero, Mike Messier
himself, made his experiences into a movie that's technically a
documentary, but it's actually lots of fun, as while rejected by above
three organisations (in hindsight maybe for the better), Messier also
proves himself to be a highly original and entertaining guy, someone who's
honest about his failings and able to learn from that - and now, 16 years
after making this movie at hand, he's still in the filmmaking game, and
growing from film to film. And if this has gotten you at all
interested, you can of course watch the movie here:
