G-Man Riley (Lloyd Hughes) seems to be the only man at FBI able to stop badman Grant Withers, who.
posing as a government agent, has secured the help of professor John
Cowell in developing a poisonous gas for mass destruction. He enters the
villain's island-hideout on false pretense but is soon found out &
his life threatened. But, as Joe Hikawa proves to be a Chinese agent
also interested in the gas, a struggle ensues during which enough gas is
set free to cover the whole island.
In the one room in the attic yet
unaffected by the gas, the final confrontation between Riley & Grant
Withers takes place. Riley wins that one of course, but will he survive
the gas ? Will the Navy get his SOS ? And will they be able to save him
? (Yes, of course ...)
The comedy is provided largely by Eddie Gribbon & Kit Guard as
the villain's not so clever aides.
A fast paced, fun espionage yarn, that has all the ingredients that
would become a mainstay of the James Bond-series almost 30 years later -
suspence, action, stunts, explosions, car chases, a villain set on mass
destruction, an island hideout, plus the hero getting the girl in the
end (in this case Marion Burns, playing the professor's daughter).
One of my favourite movie-titles by the way ! |
