Young Nixon (Emperor Kaioyus) has a heart attack during a basketball
game, and his life can ultimately only be saved by very costly surgery -
which the insurance company won't cover, and neither his father Dre (Fizz
Dreux Pierre Frédéric), who works as a repossessor, nor his stripper mun
Stacy (Sicily Cameron) can't afford it. However, Stacy has seen gangter
Slice (Jordan Lee Brown) hide a big bag of money in the club she works at,
shortly before he's been arrested. And since the money's now basically
masterless, she takes it to save her son's life.
It's two years later, and Slice is released from prison, and it doesn't
take him long to figure out that Stacy's stolen his moeny - which is
doubly problematic, as not only does he not like to be robbed, he also
owes the money himself, and shouldn't he come up with it, it might be
unhealthy for both his career and his life, really. Now he knows what
Stacy has spent the money on, so she obviously won't be able to pay him
back, but since all the money went to Nixon's cause, he figures he might
as well kidnap him and force him to rob local gangster boss Big Bird
(Robert Sophyne West). In the meantime, Dre has grown increasingly
concerned about his kidnapped son's well-being, so much so that he turns
to his underworld friend - Big Bird, who has only just found out that
Dre's son has robbed him ...
To be quite honest, at almost 2 hours Run Nixon goes on
a bit too long and seems to make a few points over and over again. But
that said, the film also contains many extremely tense scenes, all the
action's well placed and well handled, and there's heart to the story
without it becoming cheesy in the least. And that a pretty solid ensemble
cast give it their all sure helps making this a pretty cool piece of
gangster cinema.
