All boxer Darnell (Anthony Vander) and his girlfriend and PR manager
Maria (Nicola Roffe) wanted was to score some coke for her from the
drugdealer of their trust Keith (Kamal Simpson) - which wasn't very much
to Darnell's liking to begin with as he's in training for a big fight and
tries to stay away from that stuff as far as possible. But once at Keith's
apartment, they run into Adam (Kane Surry), a "respectable
businessman" with a dope and a betting habit who just happens to be
Maria's ex - a coincidence too big to be an actual coincidence, but Adam
denies any ill intentions ... and it takes quite a bit until Keith lets on
that he has a dead man hidden away in his bathroom, and he needs all their
help to get rid of it, knowing very well that their mere presence here
already makes them accessories to the crime. But wanting to get rid of a
body and actually getting rid of a body are two different things entirely,
and what Keith and in consequence all the others lack is a plan to do away
with it ... Set mostly in just one apartment, and featuring no
more than four equally important protagonists, this has turned out to be a
very tense character-driven thriller, and one that doesn't give its game
away in the first few minutes but uses its cast and their relations to
build up to major plot twists, uses their traits nicely to drive the
story, and manages to give them all proper arcs. And clever writing keeps
things fresh throughout, while a strong cast keeps things grounded, and a
dynamic directorial effort gets the most out of the limited locations, and
everything adds up to one very cool genre piece.
