Josh seems to be the biggest loser if there ever was one: He's
overweight, not exactly attractive, has an predilection for sniffing
seats, he's on meth, and he's a drunkard - and still, in his own, slightly
sleazy way, he's charming, too ... at least Terry seems to think so, a
woman twice his age, a chain-smoking health nut, trailer park resident and
self-proclaimed artist who insists she has very strong and strict ideas
about human sexuality - thing is, her ideas seem to shift every five
minutes. Seat Sniffer documents the unlikely romance of
Josh and Terry, two outcasts from society, from their first meeting to
their first blowjob on camera (even though the camera fades to black as
the blowjob commences). What makes this film work though is not so much
the two rather eccentric outcasts as such, or even the sexual tension
between them, but the compassion the
filmmakers show towards them - Josh and Terry are shown as actual human
being when they could have been easily dismissed as weirdos, as laughing
stock of our society (as which they admittedly might even come across in
my synopsis). And this despite the fact that quite some of the things they
say and do can hardly be qualified as normal behaviour ... then
again, what is normal, exactly? The movie, and others by ScUMBAG
