For years, Zara (Rocio Scotto) has tried to make it big as an actress,
but with only modest success - much to the dismay of her husband Robert
(Jason Faunt), who feels she should contribute more money to the
household, and lets her constantly know exactly that in a very hurtful
way. Tough it's more his narcissism shining through here that eventually
also leads to sexual abuse and domestic violence. And for the longest time
it looks as if Zara was much too sweet a woman to not take everything
dished out to her with the patience of a saint. Until one day out of the
blue she chlorophorms Robert, ties him to a rack and slowly takes him
apart, quite literally. And she really enjoys doing so, so after Robert is
dead she decides to pick up sleazy womanizers in fancy bars to bring them
home and slowly slice them apart, making money off their organs on the
black market. Thing is, Robert's disappearance hasn't gone unnoticed, and
his best friend (Raj Jawa) soon starts to suspect Zara of having done
Robert in ... Quite an unsettling piece of horror, as it for a
change makes its most psychopathic character its protagonist, and while
her deeds might feel absolutely wrong, one still can't but side with her,
thanks of course to a clever script but also a very powerful performance
by Rocio Scotto who's believable as both the victim and the assailant, and
who manages to arouse compassion as both. And all of this, combined with a
stylish directorial job, make this one a pretty cool genre experience.
