Master Abel (Cléber Colombo) and his students have been praticing martial arts in a certain public park for years - until they're attacked by a triad gang led by Caine (Tristan Aronovich). Gabriel (Daniel Rocha), one of Abel's top student, can ward off the attack, but the next day, another of the master's students who has shown up early for training, Hugo (Eiryo Okura), is beaten up badly in the park. Daniel (Thiago Stechinni), the Abel's best student and incidently Gabriel's brother, pays a visit to Caine's headquarters and challenges Caine himself to a fight - and he sure holds his own, but is shot in the back by one of Caine's men. Upon this Caine personally sees to it that he gets to the hospital the quickest and is given the best treatment. Gabriel and Daniel only now know what's going on, their grandfather Jonas was a disciple of the Smoke Master, but was killed by Mrs. Liu (Yasmin Thin Qi) back in the day who wanted to eliminate smoke style kung fu, and she has since put a three generation course on Gabriel and Daniel's family saying that all the family sons are to be bested and killed in a fair fight for the next three generations - and Mrs. Liu (played in the here and now by Tony Lee) is the big bosslady of the triads. Now with Daniel out of the way, it's up to Gabriel to find the Smoke Master (Tony Lee again) and learn his martial arts style. And after quite a search, Gabriel has to realize that the Smoke Master has based his whole style upon the cultivation and consumption of marihuana - and to learn the style, straight-as-an-arrow Gabriel has to become a stoner first ...

Now the premise of this movie's pretty ingenious, to take the almost generic story of so many period martial arts movies from Hong Kong and Taiwan about a man who has to learn a certain martial arts skill to avenge the death of a family member, but transplant it into modern day Brazil and add strong elements of stoner comedy to the mix. Now this could have become a disaster, but the writers/directors obviously have a deep love and understanding for the martial arts genre as such, see to it that the action is exciting and well-flowing, and apply stoner humour to the melodramatic story at all the right twists and turns to make this one fun ride indeed.
