Lovers Eden (Sophia Disgrace) and Matilda (Rahel Kapsaski) like in a
flat they have never paid any rent for and now the landlord (Chris Repps)
wants them out. Their feeble attempts to make money on top of Matilda's
poorly-paying job at the nightclub lead nowhere really, especially since
Eden has the tendency to spend all the money they make on things they
don't need - including the spider Rainer, who eventually crawls inside her
to breed spider babies. In the meantime, their landlord, unable to throw
the girls out on legal terms, moves in with them, while at the club, a
regular (Lee Mark Jones) gets a bit too friendly with Matilda - all
situations that eventually have to come to a head ... Spidarlings
is a bit of a hodgepodge of a movie, blending musical and horror, comedy
and arthouse, and quite a few other genres - and that does this movie very
well, it's basically a piece of pure yet bizarrely likeable madness that
moves through its story in a dreamlike way and that's brought to life not
only by its cast and its songs, but also its extravagant production
design, and quite simply its genuine weirdness. Basically, a really fun
experience!
