On Halloween night, three kids (Brooklyn Anne Miller, Anna Harr,
Tristan Lee Griffin) decide to knock on the town's alleged witch
"Scary" Mary's door just for kicks - to see that Mary (Roslyn
Gentle), a nice elderly woman, doesn't live up to her ill repute around
town at all - but that said, she does know how to spin a creepy yarn ...
- Petrified Boy: A circus in the 19th century had a pretrified
boy as its main attraction. Only this petrified boy might have a mind
of its own - and that mind has evil on its mind ...
- Flicker: Carter (Brandon Thane Wilson) accepts a job as
editor at a cemetery to edit videos for funerals - usually over night,
at the funeral home, a job that ought to be very easy, but the footage
soon starts to have a life of its own ...
Veteran and fan fave Vernon Wells plays the funeral home manager in
this episode.
- Crystal Ball: A young couple (Chelsea Vale, Nick Navarro)
steals a crystal ball from a carnival fortune teller (Paul Clough) -
which soon starts to work its evil magic on the two ...
- Either/Or: Elijah (James Duval) claims he's hearing the voice
of God - and that's what has sent him to an asylum, as "God"
told him to kill his wife and child. Thing is, something actually
speaks to Elijah ...
- Blood Red: Ruby (Cat LaCohie) blackmails Terry (Hunter
Johnson) into killing her artist husband (Michael Broderick), figuring
his paintings would sell better if he was dead. Thing is, her real
motives are even more sinister than that ...
- Krampus vs Elf: The origin of Christmas, told as a stop
motion fight between Krampus and an elf ...
A very fun horror anthology that might vary in style and approach to
the genre quite a bit due to the film's many writers and directors, but
all segments show engaging stories and masterful storytelling, pretty much
in the tradition of (in the best way) old-fashioned short stories where an
interesting build-up leads to an often surprising pay-off. And slick
directorial efforts by all involved made this a film that's well worth a
watch, a very entertaining piece of genre cinema.
