Paranormal investigator Damien Shadows (Eric Hollerbach) presents us
with 5 tales of the unusual that are supposed to conjure up ... well,
something at least - and then he offers some explanations ... or at least
he tries to explain:
- Tag: See separate review here!
- Panty Raid: A not so great looking male student (Corey A.
Thrush) is killing his way through a sorority house - to steal the
girls panties. Eventually though, he's caught by two fratboys on a
panty raid.
- Unmimely Demise: Years ago, Cheeky the Mime (Alexei Ryan) has
killed his wife (Sophie Dee) using nothing but pantomime because he
found her in bed with a clown (Jody Barton). He also tried to kill the
clown, but he was also a gifted mime, so he survived. Now Cheeky
returns to challenge the then-clown now family man to a duel, mime to
mime.
- My Aunt is Coming to Town: Even though she might be a bit
odd, Jeff (Aaron Quick Nelson) has gotten together with Erin (Olivia
Blake), who's at her oddest when aunt Flo (Shade Burnett) comes for a
visit - even if that woman turns out the nicest lady alive. But their
might be more to aunt Flo than meets the eye ...
- PlateFace: A man (Brandon Salkil) is so infatuated with the
daughter (Jackie McKown) of his girlfriend (Allison Fitzgerald) that
he eventually rapes and kills her ... but then the girlfriend catches
him. This segment is filmed completely in black and white with no
on-screen sound but silly sound effects and an intentionally
inappropriate laugh track, and the actors are all wearing plain white
masks - and for some reason, that works ...
While the framing segment is basically wacky comedy, the segments as
such are all over the place, from dead-serious to pretty hilarious to
plain weird, and it's safe to say not everyone will like everything on
here - but at the same time, if indie horror is even remotely your thing,
you will almost certainly find something you will like, as this film shows
the broad range of nowaday's indie horror, also in style and structure.
And for the segments you will like alone, this anthology is most
certainly worth the time and money!
