A man (Dustin Teuber) wakes up next to some train tracks with no
recollection how he got there, where he actually is, and little
recollection who he actually is, apart from being an undertaker. He makes
it to the next non-descript small town and the local diner, where
everybody seems to be expecting him, but the more he tries to understand
what's going on, the less he actually does, and all he does find out for
sure is that he might not be who he think he is ... Above
summary of Undertaker is merely a description of what's seen on
screen, as most of the movie is actually subject to interpretation -
meaning it might very well be that the film describes its protagonist's
purgatory, or only his recurring nightmare, or any other explanation ...
and that's really the beauty of this film, it doesn't chase down answers
but lets one come to its own conclusions, and the intentional use of
thriller mainstays makes the whole thing even more fascinating. And a
crisp direction, beautiful black-and-white cinematography and a very able
cast make this a piece of weirdness well worth watching.
