Lorna (Tia Baum) is walking home from a party, and the longer she walks and the
more she sobers she realizes she's not passing through the best parts of
town. Only a few blocks away, a homeless man (Jason Leighfield) roams the
same streets, screaming at everyone and no one, carrying a pitchfork - so
not exactly one would love to run into. Lorna is unaware of him yet when
she happens upon a pop-up gallery that's still open, and out of curiosity
more than anything else, she stumbles in - and gets totally engrossed in a
picture the gallerist (Deanna Little) tells her is the most dangerous
painting in the world, which why she only hangs it up the wrong way round.
Of course, once the gallerist's out of sight, Lorna turns the painting
around and ... well, she leaves the gallery in a hurry, bumping into the
homeless man ...
A quite enjoyable short, this, as it marries in the best
possible way old-fashioned short story storytelling techniques with strong
visuals and refrains from explaining things away so its finale can achieve
maximum effect. And the three actors in the movie are really up to the
task, with especially Tia Baum, who has the strongest character ark,
really grounding things. Of course though, this isn't a film for everyone,
but if you're into the slightly bizarre and are able to suspend your
disbelief slightly for the sake of a good story, you're sure to find
yourself well-entertained.
