It's 1999, when radio still had some relevance - and Max Tanner (Kris
Salvi) has a radio show where he can and is even supposed to play the
alpha dog, it's basically a shock-jock call-in show where Max takes great
pleasure insulting his callers, calling them sheep, and using a lot of
swearwords. And since he has the power to take callers off the air, he
always has the last word - until Stan (Albert Bouvier) calls in and tells
Max he has taken a hostage, Laurie (Sophie Harrington), whom he threatens
to hurt, maybe even kill, if he doesn't have his say. This makes Max
slightly uncomfortable, even more so as his soundguy (Marco Aguirre) tells
him he has to keep Stan on the line for 10 minutes for the police to track
him down - and during these ten minutes, certain things come to light that
Max would rather keep suppressed ... A rather impressive short
psycho-drama that sends its main character through the motions, all of
them, in a mere 15+ minutes and slowly breaks him in the process, thanks
to a very sharp script full of poignant dialogue, and a very strong
performance by Kris Salvi, who beautifully carries the thing, being in
almost every shot. Pretty cool for sure!
