Seven young women from all walks of life - Alicia (Virginia Roncalli),
Xenia (Lisa Eschenbrenner), Sophia (Kionia Winter), Janine (Maren Kraus),
Svenja (Hannah Bortz), Alex (Sara Mahle) and Soraya (Lorina Seipp) - have
been convicted to do community service ... and thus are tasked with
cleaning up a forest, led by over-enthusiastic social worker Petra
(Stefanie Borbe), who has issues with her own self esteem but still thinks
she can shape young minds by taking them out to mother nature and sing
songs around the campfire. Of course, the girls are a bit of an unruly
bunch, as not only do they hate the task, there are also mounting tensions
in between them. Still, they all want to party, so they put some sleeping
pills into Petra's drink, and once she's passed out, the party's on.
They're also joined by Max (William Schmidt), a youngster on a
"survival trip" who tells them suitably creepy stories about
murders that have happened in the very woodlands they're camping in - and
the next morning, Petra's found dead, and suddenly things have taken a
turn to the darker ... Now this is fun, a film that blends
social drama with teen comedy, stoner movie with psycho thriller and
everything in between, with the outcome being a darkly humourous flick
that works on many levels thanks to clever writing that manages to tie
together some very diffuse storylines - and manages to deliver a creepy
punchline in a post credits sequence. And of course, an uniformly strong
cast helps keeping things together, as does a subtle directorial effort
that, despite some craziness, manages to suck the audience into the film
rather than freaking them out. In all, a very unusual movie, but well
worth a look.
