A collective project born out of the Corona virus lockdown, this short
has in all 14 actors, each reciting a few lines from the Edgar Allan Poe
poem The Bells, with all of the involved having filmed themselves
in their own homes - and the outcome is just fascinating. Now I'll not say
much about the quality of the poem, as its pretty much common knowledge
that Poe was a master at setting creepy moods, what's really great about
it is seeing these actors giving their all bringing the poem to life, with
no cinematic trickery or somesuch, just baring their souls instead. And
while the performances differ vastly in their personal interpretations of
the material, the film as a whole still feels very coherent and utterly
moody, and is well worth a watch. And if this has gotten you at
all interested and you've got roughly 6 minutes to spare, feel free to
watch the whole thing here right now:
