Little Jason (Mason Wells) has trouble falling asleep, much to the
dismay of his short-tempered stepdad (Zach Galligan). His mother (L.A.
Winters) shows more sympathy though and promises the boy a doll to keep
him safe. At the doll store, Jason finds a couple of old dolls which
prompts the dollmaker (Geoff McKnight) to tell Jason and mum their
gruesome stories:
- Young mother Jess (Hannah Fierman) has just moved into her late
grandmother's home with her kids (Piper Collins, Drew Youngblood) when
she finds an ugly leprechaun doll (voiced by Matt Green) on her porch,
a doll that seemingly follows her everywhere and gets more and more
aggressive towards her and her family. And somehow, that doll is
linked to a dark secret in her past ...
- Abby (Courtney Lakin) is a passionate doll collector, yet all her
dolls have burnt faces, all but Tammy (voiced by Yasmin Bakhtiari),
the one doll that survived with her through a fire, a fire that has
left her forever scarred on one cheek. And eve since the fire, Tammy
has taken over Abby's life, guarding her jealously and even giving all
her other dolls burn marks. But now at a doll convention, Abby has met
her high school sweetheart Jeremy (Jonathan Horne) again, and it turns
out they still have strong feelings for one another - something Tammy
doesn't like one bit ...
Back in the framing story, Jason chooses a creepy clown doll as the
owner promises it will bring him happiness - only happiness can mean many
a thing ...
Evil Little Things doesn't exactly break new ground when it
comes to doll horrors, but if you're into classic horror anthologies this
one should be right up your alley as it tells a trio of nicely told,
macabre stories from various corners of the genre with all the surprise
twists and turns in the right places, creepy punchlines included. And a
slick directorial effort and a solid cast sure help make this a creepy
ride for horror fans old and new.
