A man (Jason Read) has travelled to the Outer Hebrides to study the
local legends, and puts up camp in the exact cabin his father had last
stayed at before going missing. The first evening at the cabin, he records
his journal on an old-fashioned tape recorder - and apparently forgets to
then turn it off, as the recorder records more than just his voice -
something that he only discovers the next day, and that discovery is
enough to freak him out, so he makes the wise decision to leave. But no
matter how far he walks, he always ends up back at the cabin ... A
very nice spooky miniature, a short that might tell a very straight and
skeletal story, but does so in a masterful way, by slowly building up an
atmosphere of unease and uses its pittoresque backdrops to very haunting
effect. And while the film doesn't actually show anything scary, it
sure leaves behind a feeling of unease that might stay with one for
several days.
